EXTOL TOASTMASTERS CLUB Meeting No. 422 on 21 Oct 2015 at 7.15pm








It was a “Don’t worry, be happy” crowd who gathered with deep “gratitude” at this fruitful, eventful and successful meeting.

Firstly, we expressed our deepest “gratitude” to Sharanjit Kaur, CC, from REAL Toastmasters Club for her gracious presence as our General Evaluator for this meeting. Thank you, Sharan.

President Ken Koh, ACB, in his opening address, revealed how superstar, Jacky Chan always chanted, “Don’t worry, be happy” despite all the ups and downs in both his personal life and career and this was one person we should emulate, to express “gratitude” no matter what happened in our lives . Well said, Ken!


TME, Mok Pei San, CC


TME, Mok Pei San, CC, coolly, calmly and composedly conducted the whole meeting in her usual efficient, effective and excellent manner. Fantastic job, San!


Invocation presenter, Jeannie, ACS, ALB


Invocation presenter, Jeannie, ACS, ALB inspired us with “Don’t worry, be happy” incidents, to wake up each morning to enjoy another joyous, meaningful and eventful day with deep “gratitude”. Thank you, Jeannie!

Table Topics Master, Lee Yong Liang, presented topics in numbering sequence on the screen for the plucky volunteers to choose from. Innovative method, Yong Liang!


First volunteer, Pun Yew Kee, CC, CL


First volunteer, Pun Yew Kee, CC, CL attempted, “Quit that job that makes you unhappy” with his working days story and how he overcame his worries and ultimately felt deep “gratitude” towards his ex-boss who forced him to quit his miserable job. Incredible speech, Yew Kee!


Second volunteer, Jinson Siew, CC


Second volunteer, Jinson Siew, CC attempted the bonus topic, “There is no rainbow, if there is no rain” magnificently well about how we could succeed only after overcoming all obstacles in our path. Astounding speech, Jinson!


Third volunteer, SK Ratnam, DTM


Third volunteer, SK Ratnam, DTM attempted “Stop searching, happiness is right next to you” by proclaiming that happiness was actually within him and not beside him.  Marvelous speech, SK!

Fourth volunteer, Nasra Abdullah


Fourth volunteer, Nasra Abdullah attempted “Can money buy happiness?’ by affirming that although money was essential, it was not the all-important item to beget happiness. Remarkable speech, Nasra!


 
Fifth and final volunteer, Ken Koh, ACB


Fifth and final volunteer, Ken Koh, ACB attempted “Happy people are not thankful, thankful people are not happy” stressed that whether happy or unhappy, we must remain thankful as all good things would come our way when we expressed “gratitude”  for whatever we had. Wonderful speech, Ken!

A big round of applause to all the five courageous volunteers who motivated us to “Don’t worry, be happy” and have deep-felt “gratitude” for everything in our lives!

Humour Master, Jinson Siew, CC entertained us with his comical, hilarious yet harrowing drowning experience while holidaying in Pulau Redang which set off guffaws of laughter.  You are a comedian in the making, Jinson!

Table Topics Evaluator, Kwa Ngan Eng, DTM gave succinct, positive and valuable feedback for all the five voluntary speakers. Thank you, Ngan Eng!


First prepared speech speaker, Tham Yen Lai


First prepared speech speaker, Tham Yen Lai expressed how she was astounded, astonished and amazed by the children in her life in her CC#5 speech, titled ”Amazing kids”.

Her evaluator, Pun Yew Kee, CC, CL was pleased that she had utilized sufficient body gestures as required for her speech. Thank you, Yew Kee!

Second prepared speech speaker, Ken Koh, ACB entertained us with a few exciting episodes from “The Lord of the Ring” for his AM#4 from Specialty Speeches, Read out loud.

His evaluator, Wong Keng Lan, CC, CL was mesmerized with his speech which would be enhanced if it was a longer speech.  Thank you, Keng Lan!

 
Jeannie, ACS, ALB


Third prepared speech speaker, Jeannie, ACS, ALB narrated her encounters with both Toastmasters and non-Toastmasters in her HPL speech, titled “To charter Teluk Pulai Club”.


SK Ratnam, DTM


Her evaluator, SK Ratnam, DTM was contented with the lessons she had learnt during her leadership experience. Thank you, SK!

There was no voting for Best Speaker as all speakers were time disqualified, while the Best Evaluator was SK Ratnam, DTM! Congratulations again, SK!


Grammarian, Sam Koh


Grammarian, Sam Koh presented a detailed report on the usage of words and sentences during the meeting. Great job, Sam!


 
Listening Evaluator, Ken Koh, ACB

Listening Evaluator, Ken Koh, ACB gave ten apparently simple questions which was quite misleading, therefore there was no Best Listener for this meeting as nobody got at least eight correct answers.  Well done, Ken! 


 
Ah Counter, Muhammad Akmal

Ah Counter, Muhammad Akmal gave his report on all the speakers who uttered “pause fillers” during the meeting. Great listening skills, Akmal!


 
Nicholas Khoo

Nicholas Khoo presented a meticulous timing report of the whole meeting. Timely job, Nick!

General Evaluator, Sharanjit Kaur, CC was awed with our smooth-running meeting proceedings and positive, enthusiastic members and guests. Thank you, Sharan! 

 
President Ken Koh, ACB made the following announcements at the end of the meeting:

1. He announced that he is organizing a membership campaign for meetings in the months of November and December 2015, encouraging all members to bring a guest each to the meeting and when the guest becomes a member, the member who brought the guest will receive a gift.

2. He announced that our club will be conducting a “Youth Leadership Program” from 4th – 6th December, 2015 from 9.00am to 5.00pm. He encouraged all members to help recruit youths from the ages of 12-17+ to register for the programme and encourage the members to help out during the three days programme.
