EXTOL TOASTMASTERS CLUB Meeting No. 423 on 04 Nov 2015 at 7.15pm
“Audible”
love was resounded as in the famous saying, “Love thy neighbour as thyself” in
this vibrant, dynamic and exciting meeting.
We
thanked Ricky Soo, CC, from MAD Toastmasters Club “audibly” for his cordial presence
as our General Evaluator for this meeting. Thank you, Ricky.
We also
thanked our guests, Joanne Yong, CC from MAD Toastmasters Club, Mei Choon and
Eng Ze Ru from School of Hard Knocks Toastmasters Club, Sam Seng, Ooi Ui Cheam and
Azham Zainal. Thank you for being with
us.
We also
warmly welcomed Azham Zainal who joined our club at the end of this meeting and

Ken Koh, ACB, persuaded us to “Love thy neighbours as thyself” by sharing how
university students of Kent hung welcome letters on the new students’ doors to
make them comfortable. Thank you, Ken!

Khoo, managed the entire meeting smoothly, efficiently and excellently. Astounding

Invocation
presenter, Mok Pei San, CC encouraged us to attract positivity and be
responsible for all responses in our lives. Thank you, San!
Table
Topics Master, Victor Guijo, had prepared topics on the importance of various
items in our lives for the impromptu session. Well done, Victor!
Eng Ze
Ru, the first speaker, compared the communication methods used 10 years ago and
now, with the topic, “The importance of the handphone in his life”.
PY
Wong, ACS, the second speaker, stressed on the importance of food rather than
jobs with the topic, “The importance of jobs in his life”.
Azham
Zainal, the third speaker, discussed the various types of transportation
available besides his car, with the topic, “The importance of cars in his
life”.
Kwa
Ngan Eng, DTM, the fourth speaker, reiterated on the importance of society and
country in addition to the family, with the topic, “The importance of family in
her life”.
Dr
Ravi, compared the goodness, badness and the results of using a RM100 note,
with the topic, “The importance of a RM100 note”.
Thunderous
applause to all the five gallant speakers! Well done!
And the
best Table Topics Speaker went to Dr Ravi. Congratulations, Ravi!
Humour Master,
SK Ratnam, DTM imparted jokes about pilots, cows, wives, walking and husbands
which were so hilarious that thoroughly entertained the audience. We are always humoured by you, SK!

Topics Evaluator, Jeannie, ACG, ALB provided constructive, “audible” and
encouraging evaluation for all the five spontaneous speakers. Thank you, Jeannie!

Koh, the first project speaker, deliberated on the magnanimity of gratitude,
emotion and positivity in his CC#5 speech, ”The goodness of gratitude”.

Eng Ze Ru shared his grievances about the discrimination, injustice and prejudices of bachelorhood in his CC#8 speech, “Life as a single man”.

evaluator, SK Ratnam, DTM was satisfied with his humourous, light-hearted,
self-deprecating speech coupled with the required visual aids. Thank you, SK!
Dr
Ravi, the third project speaker, encouraged us to transform ourselves whenever
we want and not to allow others to prevent us realizing our reality, in his
CC#10 speech, “Reframe my role, this is me…”.
His
evaluator, PY Wong, ACS was delighted with his inspirational, uplifting,
stirring speech. Thank you, PY!
There
was no voting for Best Speaker as one speaker was time disqualified, while the Best
Evaluator was PY Wong, ACS! Congratulations again, PY!

Grammarian,
Pun Yew Kee, CC, CL reported in detail all the positive, motivating and

Listening
Evaluator, Tham Yen Lai extracted ten lengthy, complicated questions, however,
Jeannie, ACG, ALB got eight correct answers and was awarded the Best Listener
for this meeting. You were both

Ah
Counter, Mei Choon reported extensively all the word crutches by the speakers during
the meeting which garnered some funds for our club. Great job, Mei!

General Evaluator, Ricky Soo, CC was very encouraging in his general evaluation especially of the new role players, and he was very “at home” in our club. Thank you, Ricky!

President
Ken Koh, ACB made the following announcements at the end of the meeting:
1. He
announced that he is organizing a membership campaign for meetings in the
months of November and December 2015, encouraging all members to bring a guest
each to the meeting and when the guest becomes a member, the member who brought
the guest will receive a gift.
2. He
announced that the Semi Annual Conference will be held on 7-8th November, 2015
in Lotus Desaru Beach Resort, Johor.
3. He also
announced that our club will be conducting a “Youth Leadership Program” from 4th
– 6th December, 2015 from 9.00am to 5.00pm. He encouraged all members to help
recruit youths from the ages of 12-17+ to register for the programme and
encourage the members to help out during the three days programme.
