EXTOL TOASTMASTERS CLUB Meeting No. 416 on 15 July 2015 at 7.15pm







This was a warm pre-Hari Raya meeting “fulfilling our lives” and helped our club members to “actualize” their greatest potential.

Firstly, we warmly welcome Ramdas Nayar, DTM from MIM PJ Toastmasters Club, the General Evaluator for this meeting.

We also extended our warmest welcome to our guests Ricky Soo, CC and Eddy Tan from MAD Toastmasters Club and Jerrie Yeap from Subang Toastmasters Club who also played various roles in our meeting.

In his opening address, President, Ken Koh, ACB, shared with us how to “fulfill our lives” and “actualize” our dreams to reach our goals. That was revitalizing, Ken!

The whole meeting was very well managed by TME, Pei San, in line with the theme of this term, “Encourage, Enrich, Empower”. Bravo, San!

Invocator, Alan Fung shared with us an inspiring quote from Eric Jason Thomas and an anecdote about the importance of the desire for success, if equivalent to the desire to live, our success would be assured. Very deep yet practical, Alan!

Table Topics Master, Kwa Ngan Eng, DTM magnified the Theme of the meeting, “fulfilling your life” and the Word of the Day, “actualize” in all her topics for this session. Well done, Ngan Eng!

First volunteer, Eddy Tan lamented that he was haunted by thoughts of food till he was insomniac and his eagerness to grab for food upon waking each morning as fulfillment of his dreams.

Second volunteer, Ricky Soo, CC related how from an introvert, he became a pioneer of book-sharing activities knowing the importance of fulfilling others’ needs and contributing to bigger things in life.

Third volunteer, Jerrie Yeap expressed that being rich or poor was not important as long as we were persistent, committed and diligent, all our dreams will soon be fulfilled.

Fourth volunteer, Pun Yew Kee, CC, was totally immersed in his humorous stories that he was at a loss during his speech which tickled all our funny bones.

A big, round of applause to all these courageous, voluntary speakers! 

And the best Table Topics Speaker went to Ricky Soo, CC. Congratulations, Ricky!

Humour Master, Pun Yew Kee, CC entertained us with “Mohamad in England” and the “priest and Nun” stories.  You are on the brink to be a humour master soon, Yew Kee!

Table Topics Evaluator, Jeannie, ACS, ALB provided very light-hearted and encouraging evaluations of all the spontaneous speeches.

For the project speech session, first speaker Nicholas Khoo emphasized on the study of anthropology for cooperation in our plethora of culture, race and tradition in order to “fulfill our lives” and “actualize” our goals in his CC#3 speech titled, “Anthropology - For a better humankind”. Great speech, Nicholas!!

His evaluator, Ken Koh, ACB was bowled over with his well-prepared and well-researched speech. Thank you, Ken!





Second speaker, Dr. Ravi in his CC # 6 speech titled, “For a strong willpower” highlighted the benefits of strong willpower with three life examples and reiterated that “we are what we think we are” and “what we think we are, we will become”. That was powerfully inspiring, Ravi!

His evaluator, Kwa Ngan Eng, DTM was immensely impressed with his motivating speech. Thank you, Ngan Eng!

Final speaker, PY Wong, ACB conducted “The Toastmasters Education Program“ from “The Successful Club Series” efficiently and earned himself the Advanced Communicator Silver award. Congratulations, PY!

There was no voting for Best Speaker and Best Evaluator as there were only two project speeches.

Ah Counter, Jerrie Yeap reported all the speech crutches used during the meeting which increased our club’s funds. Thank you, Jerrie!

Listening Evaluator, Joanne Quek produced ten apparently difficult questions but PY Wong, ACB got nine correct answers, and was awarded the Best Listener.  Stupendous, Joanne! Congratulations, PY!

For his closing address, President Ken Koh, ACB shared with us how forgetting the selfish “me” and focusing on “we” to “fulfilling our lives” and to “actualize” our objectives in life.

He reminded us that our Club Officers’ Installation Night will be held on 1st August 2015 at 6.30pm at Bliss 33 Café, No. 31-33, Jalan USJ 2/2C, 47600 Subang Jaya. 






He also informed us all that our club Humourous & Evaluation Speech Contests will be held on 5th August 2015 and invited all the club members to participate in the event either as contestants or role players.
