EXTOL TOASTMASTERS CLUB Meeting No. 419 on 02 Sep 2015 at 7.15pm







On this clear and sunny day, we enunciated our “essence of success” at this “stupendous” meeting.

The meeting was called to order by ASA, Tham Yen Lai at 7.21pm. Well done, Yen Lai!

President, Ken Koh, ACB, in his opening address observed that if we were lost in the desert, by knowing ourselves, our targets and the routes, we could find the way out and discover our “essence of success”. Thank you, Ken!

First time TME, Victor Guijo managed the meeting stupendously. Well done, Victor!

Kwa Ngan Eng, DTM advocated all to dream, work smart and plan to attain our “essence of success”. Thank you, Ngan Eng!

 
Table Topics Master, Ken Koh, ACB



Table Topics Master, Ken Koh, ACB, provided very thought-provoking “essence of success” Table Topics which attracted five brave speakers. Awesome, Ken!

Ricky Soo, CC

First table topic speaker, Ricky Soo, CC attempted, “How to educate your children to be successful?” very well despite being single and have no children of his own yet.   

Second table topic speaker, Melvin Cheah, ACS, ALB related his grueling climb to the base camp of Mount Everest for the topic, “Success is the sweetest victory. What is your sweetest victory?” 

Third table topic speaker, Mohmmad Muslim reminisced about his father for the topic “Which family member shows you the greatest success?” ending with the quote, “Nothing is impossible if you just believe that you can achieve it”.

Tham Yen Lai



Fourth table topic speaker, Tham Yen Lai agreed that “Success is 99% effort and 1% talent” by telling us how she struggled to achieve her success in life. 


 
Alan Fung

Fifth table topic speaker, Alan Fung informed that smart planning, more time for himself and attending Toastmasters meeting are his “essence of success” for the topic, “What to succeed for in the next year?” 

We were thoroughly enlightened by all the five spontaneous speakers. Thank you, all!

Humour Master, SK Ratnam, DTM set off guffaws of laughter with a series of jokes and maintained his status as King of Humour.  You are most humourous, SK!

Table Topics Evaluator, Jeannie, ACS, ALB gave very encouraging and appreciative evaluations to all the five brave speakers. Thank you, Jeannie!


Dr. Ravichandran

Dr. Ravichandran persuaded everybody to be positive in all ways to achieve our “essence of success” in his speech CC#9 titled, “Our choice”. Kudos, Ravi!

His evaluator, Kwa Ngan Eng, DTM agreed that his speech topic was very relevant and persuasive and would be strengthened with a stronger, touching and emotional conclusion. Thank you, Ngan Eng!






 
Mohmmad Muslim




Mohmmad Muslim told us about the harmful effects of caffeine in his CC#8 titled, “The energy drinks” which everybody concurred with. Well done, Muslim!


 
Shirley Bak, DTM

His evaluator, Shirley Bak, DTM remarked that his speech was “stupendous” and informative and will be better with less slides and a stronger conclusion. Thank you, Shirley!



 
Mok Pei San

Mok Pei San persuaded us to use TUMI bags in her CC#9 entitled, “Choose the right travel bag” by giving us 6 logical, affordable and useful recommendations. Bravo, San!


 
SK Ratnam, DTM

Her evaluator, SK Ratnam, DTM felt that her speech was informative, relevant and persuasive and would be enhanced with stronger emotion. Thank you, SK!

Ah Counter, Tham Yen Lai



Ah Counter, Tham Yen Lai presented her report of word crutches used during the meeting. Thank you, Yen Lai!


Grammarian, Pun Yew Kee, CC



Grammarian, Pun Yew Kee, CC presented his report on all correct and wrongful usage of words and sentences during the meeting. Great job, Yew Kee!


Muhammad Akmal

Muhammad Akmal presented his report for the timing of the whole meeting. Marvelous job, Akmal!


Listening Evaluator, Alan Fung

Listening Evaluator, Alan Fung gave ten apparently easy questions but only Jeannie, ACS, ALB got eight correct answers, and was awarded the Best Listener.  Amazing job, Alan! Congratulations, Jeannie!

Area C3 Humourous & Evaluation Speech Contests


President Ken Koh, ACB encouraged all our club members to go and support our double Champion, Alan Fung at the Area C3 Humourous & Evaluation Speech Contests on 27th September 2015 at 12noon to be held in SJMC.


He also reminded everyone to attend the farewell dinner for Mohmmad Muslim on 11th September 2015 at Sawasde Thai Kitchen & Café at 7.00pm.
