This
would go down in history as the most memorable meeting in Extol Toastmasters
Club! Thank you, Great men and women of Extol Toastmasters Club for making it
possible!
We
certainly lived up to our theme of the meeting, “Together, we can move
mountains”. We had busted so many barriers in our paths and achieved success
not only for ourselves but also for our club!

very honoured to have with us a very friendly and pleasant General Evaluator, G.
Sivalingam, DTM from D’Utama Toastmasters Club and our honoured guest, Sheue
Lih. Thank you for being with us.
Most
important of all is Mohmmad Muslim Naimi, a first time guest brought in by
Obaidullah, CC who signed up as a member on the spot. Welcome to our Extol
family, Muslim!
Well
done, Obaidullah, CC! You are entitled to a token and a special gift for your
fervent effort in line with our “Each member brings a guest campaign”. The
“Each member brings a guest campaign” is conducted from November 2014 to
December 2014. Therefore, all members do bring a guest to our meetings to
receive a token. If your guest joins our club, you will receive a special gift.
All tokens and gifts are sponsored by a private company.

Yew Kee called the meeting to order at 7.10pm after everyone had their
refreshment. You are on time, Yew, Kee!
Our
Vice President Education, Rebecca Ann Narcis, CC as TME, managed the whole meeting

President,
Jeannie, ACB encouraged all to cooperate to work as a team to overcome all
obstacles in line with the Theme of the meeting, “Together, we can move
mountains”. The mountains started to move, Jeannie.
Immediate
Past President, Pun Yew Kee who was also Grammarian, introduced the Word Of The
Day, “Cooperate” in support of the theme of the meeting, “Together, we can move
mountains”. The mountains were moving, Yew Kee!
SK
Ratnam, DTM, the invocator gave us ten thought-provoking questions which
resulted in all scurrying for the answers. In doing so, we started conquering
the mountains, SK!
The Table Topics Master, Kwa Ngan Eng, DTM |
The
Table Topics Master, Kwa Ngan Eng, DTM gave very tongue twisting and mind
boggling Table Topics which proved very tricky. Yet, our members and guests
were not daunted and volunteered readily. We started breaking the mountains!
Jeannie,
ACB, Muslim, Pei San, Ken Koh, CC and Sheue Lih volunteered and performed
remarkably well. Astounding, extemporaneous speakers! The mountains started to
buckle!

Best Table Topics Speaker went Sheue Lih. Congratulations, Sheue Lih!
Table
Topics Evaluator, Obaidullah, CC did a tremendously concise and uplifting
evaluation of the voluntary speakers. Awesome, Obaid!
The
first prepared speech by Pei San, an Ice Breaker speech titled, “Myself and my
life” was very smoothly and comfortably delivered about her personal interests,
family, school and working life. Splendid speech, San! Now, we know you better!
Her
evaluator, Jeannie Chow, ACB was happy with her speech for she had met the
objectives of her speech. Thank you, Jeannie!

Aric Ng,
did his 10th CC speech and completed his Communication manual with a
speech titled, “The power is in your hands” about a doctor who acquired riches
yet had to face a humanly fate which transformed his life which was very moving.

His
evaluator, Kwa Ngan Eng, DTM, was satisfied and declared him a Competent
Communicator! Thank you, Ngan Eng!

Ken
Koh, CC, did an Advance Manual speech from Interpretive
Reading #5 titled,
“What can you do for your country” a famous speech by JF Kennedy which was very
inspirational. With this speech, Ken received his ACB award! Well done, Ken
Koh, ACB!
His
evaluator, SK Ratnam, DTM was satisfied and declared him an Advanced
Communicator Bronze. Thank you, SK!

Absolutely
experienced Ah Counter, PY Wong, ACB was a very objective listener and caught
many with their word crutches and earned the club some earnings with 10 sen per
word crutch. Fantastic job, PY!

Pun Yew
Kee, was very meticulous in his Grammarian role. He revealed that even though
only two members had used the Word of the Day but he reported many creative
usage of words and sentences. Excellent job, Yew Kee!
Karren
Lim was a very intent Timekeeper who kept track of the meeting time accurately.

Listening
Evaluator, Ken Koh, ACB, picked up ten seemingly easy questions from the
speeches during the meeting but unbelievably only Obaidullah, CC had eight correct
answers which entitled him to receive the Best Listening Award. Excellent job, Ken Koh, ACB and
congratulations Obaidullah, CC!

General
Evaluator, G. Sivalingam, DTM felt very happy and at home at the meeting and President
Jeannie, ACB invited him to return on 3 June 2015 to conduct an Evaluation
workshop which he graciously agreed. Thank you, cordial Siva! All members, do
mark this date on your calendar to learn about efficient, effective and
excellent evaluation!
TME, Rebecca,
CC announced that President Jeannie, ACS had just submitted and received her
Advanced Communicator Silver Award and Obaidullah, CC had submitted and
received his Competent Communicator award from another club which he is also a
member.
Therefore,
in one night, we celebrated the registration of a new member, Muslim, an Ice
Breaker speech by San, a Competent Communicator award for Aric Ng Min Hong, CC,
an Advanced Communicator Bronze award for Ken Koh, ACB, an Advanced
Communicator Silver award for Jeannie, ACS and a Competent Communicator award
for Obaidullah, CC.
Celebrations!
Celebrations! Celebrations! Celebrations! Celebrations! Celebrations! Well
done, everybody. This was indeed a memorable night! We had moved the mountains!
In
closing, President, Jeannie, ACS also announced that there will be a Youth
Leadership Programme conducted by Extol Toastmasters Club on 28-30 November
2014 at Wisma CNS, 2-6 Jalan SS 19/1G, 47600 Subang Jaya from 9.00am to 5.00pm
for three days. All are encouraged to be present to enjoy a wonderful, joyful,
learning experience!
She
also announced that the International Speech and Table Topics Contests will be
conducted on 7 January 2015 at the meeting venue. All are encouraged to contest
or take up roles to make our contests successful!
