We had
a totally different experience for this meeting. In fact, each meeting that we
had is unique!
Even
though our meeting started a bit late at 7.15pm but we soon caught up and ended
on time. Kudos! to all club members present who assisted in arranging the venue
and set it up EFFICIENTly.
We like
to thank General Evaluator, Boon Sin Cheng, CC, ALB and our guest, Lydia for being

First
time ASA, Dereck Ng was a bit nervous initially but very EFFECTIVE in calling the
meeting to order. Well done, Dereck!
TME,
Obaidullah as usual in his suave and poised manner conducted the meeting with a
professional air. He not only related the history of Toastmasters International
but also the history of Extol Toastmasters Club as well. Good work, Obaid!
President,
Jeannie, ACB effectively propelled the meeting towards a high note with
reverberation on the slogan of the term 2014-2015 “Efficient, Effective,
Excellent” with our everyday event whereby we could utilize our daily
challenges to work for us and not against us. In doing so, we shall gain
excellence and be EXCELLENT people.
First
time Grammarian, Pei San introduced the Word Of The Day, “Confidence” with her
usual dose of calm and “confidence” indeed. Keep it up, San!
SK
Ratnam, DTM, the invocator for the evening advised us to persevere and persist
in whatever we do and never give up then we shall be confident, successful and
achieve our dreams. Well said, SK! Thank you for your advice!
Next on
was the highlight of our meeting, the moment we were all waiting for!
The
special speaker, Dr. Alvin Teoh, ACS, gave a speech on ‘Grooming’ which
emphasized on ‘Perception’, ‘Posture’ and ‘Props’. We had many hilarious
moments when we were all involved in a workshop to practice the three ‘P’s with
a lot of scribbling of each other’s occupations on A4 paper attached on each
other’s back. Thank you, Dr. Alvin, you are great. We really enjoyed your
“funtastic’ session. We hope to have you back again and look forward to it.
After
our break, there were two project speeches.
The
first speaker, Jewin Kumar, CC did a speech from the Advanced Manual
Storytelling #1 titled “Entertaining Myself”. He told us how he discovered his
hidden talent and it was truly entertaining. Well done, Jewin!
His
evaluator was Shirley Bak, DTM who gave him a very encouraging and motivating
evaluation. Thank you, Shirley!
The
second speaker, Jeannie, ACB presented a speech from Advance
Manual Interpretive Reading #5 titled “Indira Gandhi’s Speech on Martin Luther
King” which was very informative, inspiring and uplifting. Well done, Jeannie!
Her evaluator was SK Ratnam, DTM who was
very impressed by her interpretive reading. Thank you, SK!
First
time Ah Counter, Dereck Ng, was very attentive and provided a very concise and
detailed report on the word crutches used by the speakers during the meeting.
Very well done, Dereck!

Grammarian,
Pei San, also was very attentive and presented a comprehensive report on the
wrongful and correct usages of words and sentences and also the creative usages
of words and sentences. Fantastic job, San!
First
time Timekeeper, Karen Lim, was called on at the last minute to fill up the
role and she was really focused on her time keeping and gave a very accurate
report on the timing of each session of the meeting. No wonder our meeting
could end on time. Stupendous, Karen!

Pun Yew
Kee, the Listening Evaluator, claimed that he had only six questions but ended
up having questions within questions that eventually we had more than ten
questions! This seemed to have become the culture of our club to hide questions
within questions! Due to this, nobody
was able to get the Best Listening Award! Well done, Yew Kee! You are a rapid
learner!
General
Evaluator, Boon Sin Cheng, CC, ALB was very heartening and enlightening in his
evaluation of our meeting and he also gave us some points for improvement.
Thank you, Boon and we hope to have you with us again!
President,
Jeannie, ACB ended the meeting by announcing that we anticipated that two of
our members, PY Wong, ACB and Jeannie, ACB could achieve the ACS awards this
term. Both of them only have to complete two more speeches from the Successful
Club Series to achieve the ACS awards. Buck up, PY and Jeannie!
She
also announced that the Humourous Speech
and Evaluation Contests for Division C will be held on 11th October
2014 at Gazebo, UMW, Shah Alam and invited all to go and support our champions,
SK Ratnam, DTM, the Humourous Speech contestant and Jeannie, ACB, the
Evaluation contestant.
She
also asked Koh Teck Ken, CC to hand out the Youth Leadership Program (YLP) brochures
to all members. The YLP programme shall be conducted on 28-30 November, 2014
(from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily) at Wisma CNS, 2-6 Jalan SS 19/1G, 47600 Subang
Jaya. Do register all your young friends from the ages of 12-18 to participate
